sometimes my passion turns to pride
my vision blurred by my own eyes
I need more of You
and less of me
I’m quick to doubt, easy to shake
ruled by emotions that I can’t fake
I need more of You
and less of me
less of me and more of You
take these hands and take these feet
use them as you choose
I need less of me and more of You
sometimes my thoughts get in my way
distract me from Your voice each day
I need more of You
and less of me
forgive me for my wandering
take my life as an offering
I need more of You
and less of me
I wrote this song a few days ago. Sometimes I am ashamed at how easy it is for me to get my eyes off of Jesus. The cure for what ails me is always more of Him. And the moment I open my heart and allow Him to rule me instead of my emotions- He brings everything back into perspective. When I make the conscious choice to worship– He is faithful to bring my focus back to where it needs to be- on Him.
He must increase, but I must decrease.
John 3:30
This is beautiful.. And as our Father drew us together – this wen through my mind as I was listening and reading your post, lifting you up. You and this great hymn?
To God be the glory –
YOU are the same. “Story behind the hymns” …

Everyone has their own story. Everyone. That’s what makes each of us so special! Just like you are and always will be..

To God Be the Glory is one of my favorites! I love reading the stories behind the hymns (and ALL songs!!)… that makes me love the music even more- knowing what happened in the lives of the writers to inspire them to worship 🙂 Fanny Crosby is one of the greats, and her testimony is a true inspiration to me! Someone gave me a hymn book several years ago that contain the stories behind the hymns and it is a book that I treasure 🙂 Yes- everyone has a story…. in fact, this is on our church sign this week – “What’s your redemption story?” 🙂 Thank you, Paul, for always being such an encourager 🙂 🙂

Julie we are in the right place, when we can hear him calls us back, when we are abel to stand against self and allow the Spirit to conform us to his character. I thank God you have a heart and ear for Christ.
Much love Tom

Thank you, Tom! As I keep walking with Christ, I am getting quicker to hear Him. I still have times when I get discouraged, but I know when I start feeling that way that means I need to seek Him MORE! Praise Him MORE! God is good, and He is faithful 🙂 🙂 I hope you are having a wonderful week!

This is a prayer I pray often. Your song is such a blessing. I am a pianist and former worship leader, so I’m always drawn to songs that point people to Christ. Please continue to share your gift with us.

You have really blessed me with your kind words and encouragement 🙂 Thank you for that. Do you still play piano much? I used to teach piano and voice lessons, but now I devote all of my time to leading worship and doing ministry at church.
