A Different Perspective

photo

On this beauty of a summer’s night

I’m captivated by

the rustling leaves of sweet pear trees

and the vibrant colored sky

the view, it melts away my cares

and thoughts that brings me grief

and fills my heart with gratitude

His perfect love-

His peace

My girls and I recently took a road trip to see a dear friend. I took this photo from her backyard  as we watched the setting sun. It was a gorgeous evening.

I began to think about this peach tree, and how I would usually think it was in the way- blocking the perfect sunset view.  Isn’t it funny how being somewhere new gives us a different perspective?

The tree only added to the awesome picture He was painting that night. Instead of thinking things are in the way of what I’m looking for- I need to see these obstacles as part of His bigger plan…His bigger picture. I was blessed that night. God is good-all the time!

Lord, help me find joy in all things… help me to keep my eyes fixed on You, no matter what seems to get in the way!

Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Psalm 37

    • You are so welcome 🙂 I am asking Him to help me see the beauty in those things I see as obstacles. In my own yard, I see trees as nothing but things in the way of my “sky” view… but at my friend’s home, they just made it more beautiful. Same thing is true about life. It’s all about our perspective 🙂 Have a blessed day!!

  1. I love that verse – “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

My older son said that verse wasn’t fair: If you delight yourself in the Lord, you will only desire those things which He gives you. Sounds like a good deal to me. 🙂

  2. I have not been smoking anything recreational. But I looked at your beautiful picture and saw an eyelash, and then the sunset morphed into an eyeball – and I thought: “God’s eye is in that beauty watching over you”

The read your words and bumped into the phrase: “help me to keep my eyes fixed on You” – and thought – who is watching who?

    🙂

Your pieces and Him do good stuff to me!!

    • You have the most interesting observations 🙂 I saw the eyelash and eyeball as soon as I looked at the picture again… He is always watching us, it’s us that need constant reminders to focus on Him!
