Where two or three are gathered…

Our Remy- flashing his best smile for the camera

Tip tap tip tap

little paws go pitter patter

slowly moving, speed increasing

growing louder is the clatter

finding me, he snuggles up

and settles down so sweet

As I sit on my piano bench

he rests upon my feet

with the steady beat

my feet, they pedal up and down

lulling my sweet boy to sleep

 he rests upon the ground

There is nothing more that I love to do than to sit at the piano and worship.  Hours could pass by, and yet it feels like time stands still when I am there. One of my favorite things is that my dog also likes to sit with me, too, when I play.  As soon as I sit on my bench, within a couple of minutes I start to hear his paws tip-tapping on our hardwood floors.  He speeds up when he gets closer to the sound of the piano, and then he sits- right on top of my right foot- the one I use to pedal as I play.  He will lay there the entire time, resting and sometimes wagging his tail as I sing and play the day away.  He does this every single time.

If he could talk, I think he would tell me he likes music, too.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.  Psalm 150:6

Oh, to rest at His feet the same way my sweet Remy does mine…

Lord, help me to be still before You and hear Your sweet voice today!

Twilight Haiku

Evening sky from my porch in Charlottesville

Air-brushed and vibrant

His glory shines at twilight

hushing all who sees

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.  Psalm 65:8

Amazing sunsets always make me thankful.  Thankful for another day.  Thankful for a new beginning tomorrow.  Thankful for all the little things.  Like a home with a porch to stand on.  And  a phone to take pictures of sunsets.  Thankful for eyes to see His magnificent creation. In a world filled with uncertainty, I am grateful that I can lean on Him and His promises. Sunsets remind me that no matter what trials I face during the day, He is with me-making all things beautiful.

He has made everything beautiful in its time.  Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

Son Rise Haiku

sun rise

Sky ablaze with pink

A marvelous creation

Praises overflow!

I have always loved haikus-  so simple, yet poignant! To convey a thought in such few words leaves much to the imagination, which is one reason I love them.  As the girls and I waited for the school bus this morning, I found myself looking up at the clouds in wonder.  How awesome He is that He would hand-paint our sky each day!  God is good!

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3:22-23

Thank you, Lord, for another day to serve You, to worship You, and to see Your goodness!  May You use me today for Your purpose and for Your glory!

Musical musings on neglected weeds

Hard at work
we made it look
as if that’s all
it really took
One day of labor
one day of sweat
and oh how quickly
we forget
these little things
that creep and grow
up through our mulch
did we not know
that when we do not
tend our weeds
and when His word
we do not heed
how much harder
must we work
to clear up all these
weeds that took
and what else might
we see is found
as we pull roots
below the ground?
I put this poem to song.   How fitting it was when I played my piano this  morning –  one of the keys was just a little “off” today… a “buzz” in my Eb key… thanks, God, for reminding me of the beauty in imperfections!  We all feel a little “off” sometimes, don’t we?  I am thankful for His Living Word, His grace, and mercy…. and my beautifully “imperfect” piano!
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  Psalm 73:36
